How Can Restore Deleted Bookmarks Accidentally?

First of all, we logged out of our “Google Account” in Chrome, it did finally load the bookmark files from the “Bookmarks” file. But those bookmarks were not the ones we were expecting.

So, we can find the bookmarks.bak file below path:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\

Note: we should bookmark the name of the old one.

And after we refreshed the folder, the “Bookmarks.bak” file did appear! And it was only a week old.

We can restore that Bookmarks.bak file by doing the following:

  1. Log out of Google Chrome account
  2. Shut down Google Chrome
  3. Rename the “Bookmarks.bak” file to “Bookmarks” and copy it into the folder (with replacing):
  4. Launch Google Chrome (all my bookmarks reappeared!)
  5. Open Bookmark Manager and export all Bookmarks as .html
  6. Log into Google Chrome account
  7. Open Bookmark Manager and import the Bookmark .html file

It restored all Bookmarks into an “Imported” Bookmark folder on Bookmark Toolbar, but now can drag them all out of there back to where they were.

I wanted to tell as much as I could :)

Stay healthy :)
